THE SOCIAL INSURANCE IS ...

The social insurance is a socio-economic measure to provide pensions, benefits or payments prescribed in the legislation to the insured person in contingencies of retirement, disability, sickness and unemployment, as well as his/or her dependents in case of the insured person’s death, having established a Social Insurance Fund through contributions payable by individuals (further referred to as "insured persons") , State institutions, business units and organizations according to the applicable procedures.

-Branches of Social Insurance:

  • Pension insurance
  • Benefits insurance
  • Health insurance
  • Insurance against employment injury and occupational diseases
  • Unemployment insurance

-Each branch of social insurance has a separate cash fund as follows:

  • Pension insurance fund
  • Benefits insurance fund
  • Health insurance fund
  • Insurance fund against employment injury and occupational diseases
  • Unemployment insurance fund

  • Compulsory coverage
  • Voluntary coverage

  • There are over 1000 staff working with the State Social Insurance General Office and social insurance departments of the Capital City, its districts, aimags and soums, dealing with 20.1 million insured persons, about 280,000 retirees and over 15,000 employers, recording monthly contributions, doing a lot of accounting work related with receipts and expenditure of five branch Funds of Social Insurance
